Zachary Taylor's letters to his son-in-law Dr. Robert Crooke Wood (1801-1869). There are also three individual letters to Jesse Atwood (1847, May 31), Edward Kent (1848, July 27) and Richard T. Allison (1848, June 25). The letters describe the campaigns and battles of the war with Mexico, including the battles of Palo Alto, Moterrey, and Buena Vista. The 1848 letters also discuss Taylor's presidential nomination.

Zachary Taylor (1784-1850), the twelfth president of the United States. In 1841, he was appointed to the command of the Sourthern Division of the United States.
